CIVIL ENGINEER - GRADE 3 (Full Time)
$50,000.00 Annually  (Annual Salary Based on Verifiable Experience)
 
The purpose of this classification is to review subdivision and site construction plans for proposed construction and improvement projects to ensure compliance with applicable codes and ordinances and assist the county engineer in the development of plans for water and sewer infrastructure projects, surface transportation projects, public works infrastructure projects and to conduct drainage studies according to established engineering standards and state/federal construction policy based on the direction from the Effingham County Board of Commissioners. Employees in this classification assist with a variety of professional engineering assignments in one or more specialized areas involving research, planning, and design for projects involving: water and sewer collection and distribution, traffic safety, traffic operations and maintenance of highways, public works infrastructure and drainage studies. Application of general knowledge of physical sciences, mathematics and specialized knowledge of the mechanics of hydrology, hydraulics, and surveying is required.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field; supplemented by three (3) years previous experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Strong familiarity with Autodesk Civil 3D and ESRI ArcGIS.
Knowledge of, and ability to perform operations involved with Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft Power Point.
