Frank Novotny & Associates, Inc. is seeking a Full-Time Engineering Technician or Engineer to work in both the field and office. This position will include the performance of the following job tasks: 

Field

• Construction Guidance and Inspection
• Construction Layout
• Construction Quantity measurements and documentation for payment
• Preparation of Payment Estimates
• Communication with Municipality Representatives, IDOT and other Governmental Agencies
• Communication with Contractors
• Coordinate assigned Summer Intern schedules 

Office

• CADD Drafting
• Plan Quantity Take-Off
• Preparation of Cost Estimates
• Field Survey and Topographic work
• Assist Project Engineers in the Preparation of Construction Plans 

To be successful in this position the Candidate should have the following Skills, Qualifications, and Experience: 
Required Skills

• Working Knowledge of Municipal Construction work including Roadway and Utility construction
• Understanding of IDOT Road Construction procedures including familiarity with the IDOT “Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction”
• Knowledge of Construction Layout and Surveying Principles
• Proficient AutoCad Drafting Skills
• Proficient Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) Skills
• Strong IDOT Construction Quantity Documentation Skills (IDOT ICORS)
• Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills
• Strong Organizational and time management Skills
• Strong Work Ethic and Teamwork Skills 

Qualifications and Experience

• Associate Degree or Related Technical Certification in Civil Engineering or Construction Technology with 6 Years of Experience in related Municipal or Civil Engineering work, or
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering with 4 years of Experience in related Municipal of Civil Engineering work (Engineering-In-Training Certification a Plus), or
• Professional Engineer License
• IDOT Construction Quantity Documentation Certification a Plus
• Possession of a Valid Driver’s License and have a Satisfactory Driving Record
• Use of Personal Vehicle for on the Job Travel
