Company Description:
In Facilities Design, the Civil Engineer provides civil engineering design review for new store development, ensuring that Publix site criteria for shopping centers are met. This includes serving as an in-house consultant on all civil engineering issues including non-retail related offices, manufacturing, distribution and other Publix properties. The Civil Engineer reports to the New Store Program Manager.Additional responsibilities include:
- reviewing plans submitted by the developer and his/her Architects and Engineers
- answering questions and providing direction to various customers on a variety of civil or site related issues
- participating in special interest tasks and projects
- reviewing plans for unique stores
- modifying prototypical foundation design to meet site specific requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited engineering program
- at least four (4) years of experience working as a Civil Engineer (including internship experience)
- must be a registered Engineer
- knowledge of building codes and jurisdictional requirements
- knowledge of various computer design systems, including MicroStation, or equivalent CADD system
- knowledge of drafting standards with proficient drafting and design techniques
- excellent verbal and written communication skills

- ability to be diplomatic
- ability to perform code analysis
- willingness to travel occasionally with some overnights
- willingness to work an extended work schedule, including nights or weekends
- eight (8) years of experience working as a Civil Engineer
- National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) member
- knowledge of Publix site development requirements
- knowledge of Publix organizational structure
