Strategic Robotic Systems (SRS) is a small dynamic company that designs and manufactures sophisticated underwater robotic systems. The company’s product encompasses a variety of high-end underwater sensors, intelligent navigation instruments and mechanical components to withstand the harsh subsea environment.
 
The FUSION underwater vehicle represents the next generation in underwater search and intervention systems operated globally by military, law enforcement, scientific and commercial agencies.
 
In response to the success of the FUSION, SRS is expanding and seeking a self-motivated, innovative, highly detail-oriented individual, capable of working as part of a team in an active and constantly evolving work environment.
 
Introduction:
SRS is seeking an Electronics Engineer to join the engineering team to tackle new development projects as well as support the current product range.  The position is hands on and involves field testing and a willingness to learn how the product is used in the real world.
 
Responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of the company’s product including electronics, sensors, and associated systems.
• Design electronics in conjunction with partner companies as well the mechanical and production team.
• Where possible, look to improve electronic design to evolve the product with the latest available technology.

 
Qualifications

• Minimum BS/MS in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Robotics Engineering
• 2+ years of experience in electronic hardware development.
• Highly detail oriented, logical, and methodical.
• Understanding of circuit fundamentals, PCB design, and firmware.
• Hands on experience soldering, PCB rework, and generally proficient with hand tools.
• Experience with some of the following interfaces: I2C, SMBus, UART, RS-232, RS-485, USB, Ethernet.
• Experience interfacing with Li-ion smart battery system.
• Proficient using Altium designer or similar PCB design software.
• Knowledge in signal integrity including cable screening, EMI, ground loops, high speed differential signals (1000-BaseT, USB 3.0).
• Familiarity with ARM processors and designing with microcontrollers a plus.
• Familiarity with C and C++ programming language a plus.
• Familiarity with Python a plus.
• Familiarity with real time operating systems such as FreeRTOS and ROS a plus.
• Understanding of Linux and Berkeley sockets a plus.
• Familiarity with Ethernet protocol stack as well as network management/diagnostics.
• Able to work in the field.
• Possible foreign and domestic travel.
• Note this is not an entry level position, 3+ years of experience required.
