Position Title: Req#R-722 Maintenance ManagerLocation: Gurnee, Illinois
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Direct Reports: 3 direct reports: 15 indirect multi-craft maintenance team
- Objective:
- Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement site maintenance program including predictive, preventative and emergency work procedures and protocols.
- Manage maintenance budget for personnel, equipment and materials as assigned
- Assist in developing site capital plan. Ensure repairs and maintenance costs are controlled to agreed levels.
- Ensure that downtime due to equipment problems is below agreed standards for all unit operations in particular those units that are production bottlenecks.
- Implement reliability-based engineering techniques to all key plants including preventative maintenance practices where relevant.
- Ensure department activities are in compliance to all Company, government and site operational department’s regulations.
- Develop and maintain contacts with various governments, and other external third party agencies required to obtain relevant permits and appropriate annual inspections as required for new construction, safety and environmental issues.
- Keep informed of new technologies, materials, and training opportunities, and implement where appropriate.
- Develop and implement reliability improvement procedures, projects and practices.
- Assist in establishing and implementing training programs in order to increase the effectiveness of maintenance and operations personnel.
- Ensure safety compliance and develop department awareness.
- Ensure that contractor management is such that only competent, well trained personnel enter the site and in particular demonstrate a high level of safety performance.
- Recruit and train staff as required to meet the organizational and individual development needs of the department.
- Carry a company issued cell phone and be able to respond to and support emergency issues on a 24/7 basis.
- Supervise emergency repair, routine maintenance and preventative maintenance of equipment to maintain the mechanical condition of the plant and improve operating efficiency in a safe manner.
- Efficient and reliable operation of Company utilities.
- Provide back-up for other department personnel as required.
- All other duties as assigned by management.
- Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in engineering in a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 5 years (10 preferred) experience in engineering associated with a manufacturing environment.
- Strong organizational, and maintenance project management skills,
- Solid interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering.
