Job Description:

The Controls Engineer is responsible for overall project execution from receipt of purchase order to final customer acceptance with emphasis on profitability, quality, schedule and positive customer relationship.  Oversees project(s) technical compliance and ensure adherence to company processes and procedures, identify deviations and take appropriate corrective actions.

Duties and responsibilities include: 

  • Prepare and/or direct preparation of controls concept drawings.
  • Prepare and/or direct preparation of controls drawings in adherence to applicable customer specifications and Company standards prior to submission to the Project Engineer and/or the customer.
  • Direct the activities of the Controls Design Engineers, as required.
  • Manage the electrical build on the assembly floor, as required.
  • Evaluate problems, determine corrective actions, set plans, execute plans and develop root cause analyses.
  • Provide debug assistance on the assembly floor, through customer acceptance.
  • Provide controls assistance to the Technical Writer to help compile data needed for operators and maintenance manuals.
  • Travel to international and domestic customer facilities, as required.
  • Assist in efforts across other teams or departments to assure success of all projects.
  • Aid in the development and training of other team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Supervisor.
  • Promote Company safety and security guidelines to team members.
  • Assure all Company policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Promote team awareness of the latest technological advances.
  • Promote Company philosophy and scheduling methodology.

Minimum Requirement:

  • Technical degree.
  • 5 years minimum experience in machine controls design and engineering related to special production machinery.
  • 2 years minimum experience using CAD.
  • Computer skills: Windows, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.

Preferred:

  • B.Sc./B. Electrical Engineering 
  • 10 years minimum experience in machine controls design and engineering related to special production machinery.
  • 5 years minimum experience using CAD.
