Job Summary:
SkySkopes is seeking a full-time Transmission Line Engineer to support our growing Transmission & Distribution service offerings. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience utilizing PLS-CADD software for the modeling and analysis of high voltage overhead transmission & distribution projects. The candidate will be responsible for PLS-CADD modeling of as-built transmission and distribution lines surveyed by aerial lidar and orthoimagery data. The candidate will also be responsible for running PLS-CADD analytical tools on generated models to meet customer requirements.
Depending on the candidate, this position has the potential to evolve into performing engineering work in fields outside of electrical utility (transportation, municipal, etc.) as SkySkopes continues to expand our services to meet our client’s needs.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Extensive experience using PLS-CADD is required
Experience modeling as-built powerline features in PLS-CADD using lidar and orthoimagery data is preferred
The candidate should have experience performing sag and tension, vegetation encroachment, and other analysis on generated models using PLS-CADD
Possess a deep understanding of industry codes and regulations
Prior experience working with multidisciplinary teams and leading projects is preferred
Complete project workflows with minimal supervision
Support other projects as needed
Perform related duties as assigned
Experience using CAD and GIS software (Microstation, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, etc) as well as feature extraction software such as TopoDOT would be a plus

Education and Experience:
B.S. in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited institution
Industry Experience: 5+ years
PE License (required)
