Job Description:

The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Process Engineer to take the lead on scaling our process to demonstration scale. This role will guide the engineering for the scale-up and commercialization of our process, progressing from our current in-house bench pilot scale (10 kg/day of SCM production, TRL5), through our planned Demo Plant (2-3 TPH SCM production), and ultimately to commercial-scale low-carbon SCM production plant (50 TPH). Our process is designed for rapid scaling, combining industrialized unit operations with our specialized chemistry in a novel way to prepare low-carbon cementitious materials from a variety of feedstocks. This is the perfect opportunity for a seasoned, ambitious, and creative process engineer to lead a team and rapidly transition technology from pilot to full-scale.
Critical to this role will be working closely with our R&D scientists, materials engineers, and Process Engineering teams to identify areas for performance and operational improvement, develop experiments, and unit operation testing protocols, and translate those results into engineering design. This role will also be responsible for vetting, selecting, and managing a variety of vendors to engineer our Demo Plant and first Commercial Plant.
Key Responsibilities
This role will be essential in advancing our process from pilot to commercial scale. Key responsibilities include:
Collaborating with company leadership to refine and lead the execution of a detailed scale-up plan.
Setting and prioritizing R&D goals for performance and operational improvements and overseeing their implementation with R&D teams.
Translating R&D outcomes into precise engineering designs.
Reviewing and optimizing heat and mass balance models with the process engineering team.
Enhancing and updating process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment lists.
Implementing strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize value across the entire process to minimize both CAPEX and OPEX.
Building and managing relationships with consultants, vendors, and EPC firms necessary for the scale-up process.
Qualifications
Deep experience in chemical process engineering.
Experience taking novel technologies from the pilot to commercial scale.
Degree in chemical engineering, process engineering or equivalent.
Experience in both a start-up or R&D environment and commercial operations is desired.
Experience in cement production is a desired qualification.
Experience in the following industries is ideal: cement production, mining, carbon capture and sequestration, and/or pyrometallurgy.

This role is onsite and based in our Calgary, AB headquarters.
