Job Description:

Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is seeking a dedicated and talented Drainage Engineer to join our team in Tampa, FL. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the design and development of innovative solutions that enhance the safety and efficiency of transportation infrastructure in the region. 
 
Responsibilities
  • Interconnected Channel and Pond Routing Model Program (ICPR)/Stormwise: Utilize ICPR/Stormwise software and methodologies to assess catchment behavior, including rainfall-runoff modeling, flood risk analysis, and water quality assessment.
  • Develop comprehensive drainage strategies incorporating ICPR/Stormwise principles to manage stormwater runoff effectively.
  • Design transportation project plans for drainage components (ponds, pipes, drainage structures, ditches and other hydraulic conveyances).
  • Obtain local and water management district permits.
  • Pond Routing:
    • Design, model, and analyze stormwater retention ponds, detention basins, and other water management structures using industry-standard software such as HEC-RAS, SWMM, or similar tools.
    • Implement pond routing techniques to control peak flows, attenuate runoff, and mitigate flood risks within watersheds.
  • ​​Regulatory Compliance:
    • Prepare permit applications, drainage reports, and technical documents for regulatory review and approval.
    • Stay abreast of regulatory requirements related to drainage, stormwater management, and environmental protection in Florida.
    • Coordinate with Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and Water Management Districts for permit applications, regulatory review and approval.  
  • Project Coordination:
    • Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptual design to construction phase support.
    • Collaborate with project managers, architects, civil engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate drainage design considerations into overall project plans.
Qualifications
  • Strong background in hydrology, hydraulic analysis, and stormwater management.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Experience in roadway, site design, and airport projects is advantageous.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret technical data, conduct hydraulic calculations, and solve complex drainage problems.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US with a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Florida, or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Demonstrated experience in drainage engineering, with a focus on ICPR/Stormwise and pond routing.
  • Proficiency in ICPR/Stormwise software (e.g., MicroDrainage, InfoWorks ICM) and hydraulic modeling tools (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM).
  • Strong understanding of Florida-specific regulations and guidelines related to drainage, stormwater management, and environmental protection.
Physical Demands
This position predominantly involves up to 8 hours per day at a computer workstation, with occasional standing and walking. The employee may occasionally lift lightweight office supplies and materials, typically not exceeding 20 pounds. The office environment is indoors, characterized by controlled temperatures and minimal exposure to adverse conditions. During fieldwork, the engineer may be exposed to different environments with loud noise, dust, dirt, changing temperatures, and must be able to move skillfully around construction sites.
 
Expected Hours of Work
The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule; some night and weekend work may be required.
