Job Description:

The Desktop Engineer will join the team responsible for the Firm’s IT systems, services, and operations.  The team focuses on maximizing Firm-wide IT productivity and minimizing disruptions. This position coordinates the analysis, recommendation and deployment of the desktop / laptop environment and software and driver lifecycle management these systems. The Desktop Engineer will play a pivotal role in helping develop and maintain desktop environment and will help maintain a culture of superior client service and continuous improvement. 

 

Job Functions:

  • Helps design and maintain the user environment.
  • Collaborates with the IT Operations Team to:
    1. Ensure IT service delivery with respect to infrastructure and endpoint systems.
    2. Maintain operational technology strategies standards, and continuous service improvement.
    3. Assist in the development and implementation of software lifecycle plans and procedures, including regular reviews and configuration testing and validation.
    4. Troubleshoot and resolve advanced application and endpoint hardware issues.
    5. Establish and implement operational standards related to hardware drivers and firmware.  
  • Collects core system metrics to develop and implement improvement plans based on analysis of data. 
  • Partners with IT Operations Director, User Support Manager and other stakeholders to improve operational procedures, processes, and the security and performance of existing systems.
  • Provides technical guidance to User Support team members.
  • Communicates and collaborates with other departments to report and resolve software, hardware, and operational issues.
  • Researches, evaluates, and advises on new technology solutions.
  • Provides 24x7 On-Call support and problem triage for IT services on a rotating basis.
  • Plays an integral role in critical department projects and initiatives.

 

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years’ experience in administering critical IT infrastructure and endpoint systems, in a professional services environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred.
  • Microsoft & Citrix Certifications preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in Office 365.
  • 3-5 years of experience with SCCM/MECM, Configuration Manager
  • 3-5 Years of Software packaging and Deployment   
  • The ideal candidate will have proven experience working with technologies currently in use at the Firm, including:  SCCM/MECM, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Intune, Windows OS 10/11, Active Directory, Citrix, PowerShell, and iManage.
  • Demonstrated capability in solving new and complex problems.
  • Must be able to work in fast paced environment, with the demonstrated ability to organize work and set priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Self-starter and forward thinker with the ability to work independently, and in a team setting, while having good judgment as to when consultation is required.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Reliable team player with a positive attitude and strong commitment to client service.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have minimal physical mobility. Position may occasionally require standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 15 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to operate equipment such as a computer and copy machine.
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly and to read and follow detailed instructions.
  • Must have the ability to prepare assorted documents and other related materials.
  • Must have the ability to work in stressful conditions under time deadlines.
