Job Description:

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our dynamic team. As a Industrial Engineering Intern, you will be establishing a process to effectively report poundage washed in our plant facilities, ensuring our PPOH calculations are beyond dispute.  Additionally, the PMS will assist the Finance and Operations team to gain hands-on experience in the areas below. This paid position will be for a 6-month period lasting from September 23rd, 2024 to March 28th, 2025 and will require up to 30 hours per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify all existing methods for calculating and recording pounds washed in each plant (survey all plants):
  • Explore solutions to shift to 100% actual weights.
  • Explore solutions to automatically report poundage.
  • Establish a new process to accurately and automatically (as much as possible) report poundage washed.
  • Trial new process in multiple plants that have different current methods and capabilities.
  • Adjust method to fit all plants.
  • Build in Gage R&R function.
  • Implement new reporting method to all plants.
  • Meet daily with Assistant Plant Manager/Operational partner to drive activities including:
    • Conducting surveys to establish current methodologies and fact finding.
    • Collecting data
    • Work with a SME to determine the procedures to be utilized network wide.
    • Documenting SOP’s
    • Defining an audit process
    • Develop targeted changes to current process by identifying points of failure and training personnel on how to remediate changes.
  • Develop a working relationship with other Co-ops who are performing similar functions to share best practices and improve the overall success of the Productivity Measurement Project.
  • Support our maintenance team as needed.
  • Participate in daily production update meetings with production management.
  • Report needs in a timely manner to supervisor.
  • Communicate effectively to both Operations and Finance contacts.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Pursuit of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechnical, industrial engineering related field
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to travel to different plants to instrument similar processes
  • Ability to work independently in a plant with supervisors being remote
  • General computer knowledge required
  • Multitasking skills to work on an assigned Project while managing other plant needs
  • Advanced math and data processing skills required
  • Coachable and flexible to process changes
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and high-level performance
