Our client is a private, family-owned business with nearly 100 years of success in engineering and manufacturing custom commercial and industrial heat exchangers for F500 companies, privately held companies, and government entities. Their best-in-class products serve a wide array of industries, including HVAC, defense and aerospace, power generation, chemical producers, petroleum operations, food processing equipment, etc.
The Position
Due to recent growth, our client needs a Sales Application Engineer with strong technical knowledge to develop new business and lead end-to-end design and delivery of heat transfer solutions products for customers. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and people person who is passionate about engineering and technical sales and eager for a decision-maker role interfacing with customers, designers, and key manufacturing personnel to see orders through from concept to completion.

Primary responsibilities include:
Key Responsibilities
• Serving as the single point of contact for existing & new customers by providing them with designs, quotations, and ongoing service support
• Developing prospective accounts by understanding the prospect’s needs and proposing designs and service offerings, generating proposals and winning new contracts
• Owning the design from concept through delivery: providing specifications to SolidWorks designers, advising on manufacturing, and coordinating with materials requirements as necessary
• Navigating trade-offs in design, performance, and cost to ensure the highest quality custom heat transfer solutions for clients
• Actively participating in the Sales & Engineering team, supporting fluctuations in workload and contributing to other team members' professional development
Qualifications and Candidate Background
The ideal candidate will have:
• 3-7+ years’ experience in HVAC, refrigeration, or related industries
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related; background in thermal and fluid sciences preferred
• Self-starter with track record of excellence in fast-paced environments and a high degree of intellectual curiosity
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills - ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, successful proposals and designs that clients and in-house fabrication teams easily understand
• Phenomenal EQ and trust-building skills - able to build close, effective relationships with stakeholders up and down the org chart and get their buy-in
• Passionate about engineering, sales, building relationships with customers, and promoting a culture that aligns with company values
• History of success in small or mid-sized company that grew significantly
• Strategic thinker with strong business acumen - ability to think and plan long-term (3- 5 years into the next business cycle)
• Proven project management skills with capacity to handle multiple simultaneous priorities, balancing urgent tasks with progress on important tasks
• Experience with heat exchangers a strong nice-to-have
