Job Description:

This position demonstrates a broad technical knowledge in order to perform the essential duties to support the assistant project managers and project management supervisors. Acts as the inspection coordinator. Performs advanced technical work in the provision of building inspection, maintenance and repair services to county facilities. Independently manages regulatory agency inspection process. Demonstrates working knowledge of building codes. Communicates complex code regulations. Proactively creates monthly schedule of all testing and inspections. Resolves inspection violations and performs related work required to support the contracts section, consisting of assistant project managers and the project management supervisors. Provides follow up with regulatory agencies, internal and external stakeholders of any deficiencies and ensure timely resolution and communication. Maintains accurate document record keeping for all testing and inspections in department computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and other county record keeping systems. Works under the supervision of a Project Manager I, and works with a team of Assistant Project Managers (APM’s).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to: high school graduation or a GED issued by a state department of education; plus four years of engineering technical support work.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Driver's license.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background and a driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Working knowledge of building codes in respect to state mandated testing of life safety, vertical transportation, and other code regulated building sub-systems within county buildings.
  • At least two (2) years' experience in one of the following industries: Facilities Management, Construction, or other building trade industries.
  • At least two (2) years' experience documenting and recording technical information in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • At least two (2) years' experience of customer service experience.
  • At least one (1) year experience scheduling and coordinating complex activities in one of the following fields: Facility Management, Construction, or other building trade industries.
  • Intermediate experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite software; specifically, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience handling and communicating sensitive and confidential information.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to walk, climb ladders, stand, bend and carry items under 10 pounds of weight. Must be able to drive. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Panel interview and may include practical exercise.
