  JOB SUMMARY The project engineer of new construction is responsible for providing support and construction oversight of vessels currently under construction as well as major modifications of exsisting vessels currently in the fleet and equipment projects. The project engineer of new construction will assist naval architects, shipyards, and the engineering department with design specifications and drawings. The project engineer of new construction (owners’ representative) will be accountable for the effective achievement of performance, quality control, cost containment, establishing goals for assigned projects, and working with all associated stakeholders including but not limited to company personnel, shipyards, vendors, and customers. The project engineer of new construction will be involved in the analysis of problems solving to include complex technical problems and communication. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Access project requirements, research feasibility of concepts & design studies, address the effectiveness of planned modifications including safety and structural analysis and validation of appropriate rules and or design standardsAssist engineering and new construction department with statements of work, cost estimates, presentations & reports, develop specifications and big packages for new construction and major repair projectsContribute to company business strategy developmentDevelop and maintain project files, communications, and technical dataIncorporate and support health, safety, and environment (HSE) practices in overall business, planning, and performanceMaximize profitable company operations and strategic growthParticipate in corporate-wide initiatives to identify and develop best practices both in and outside of the departmentProvide direct support to engineering staff for either new construction or repairProvide technical direction to the staff to set and schedule goals and objectivesResearch technical information to support design and updates to vessel systemsSupport project planning and efficient execution of projects to planWeight and stability analysis to include development of weight and center of gravity estimates, the performance of intact and damaged stability EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Minimum 5 years in marine vessel operation experience such as maintenance, drydocking, major repair project management, and new constructionA high school diploma or GED is required;
