Job OverviewThe Engineering Support role provides technical and analytical support for the wholesale electricity market and grid operations within the Client. This role involves monitoring system conditions and market performance, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure market consistency and stability, and applying principles of electricity market theory to analyze market behavior. The role also includes preparing and validating electric power system models, supporting market design, and contributing to demand response services. The candidate will assist in providing technical support to the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) and other stakeholders, recommending and testing changes to systems.Key Responsibilities Wholesale Market & Grid Operations: Monitors system conditions and wholesale market performance to ensure consistency with Protocols.Prepares and validates models of electric power systems.Analyzes market behavior and outcomes using electricity market theory.Investigates methods for data analysis and develops analytical tools for market monitoring.Generates and maintains market reports in accordance with requests and protocols.Stakeholder Collaboration & Issue Resolution:Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders on wholesale market and grid operation issues.Provides technical assistance to PUCT, industry, and stakeholder groups.Works with Market Participants to resolve inquiries regarding the wholesale market.Demand Response Services:Monitors and analyzes demand response services to support Market Participant needs.Develops a strong knowledge of demand response programs.Process Improvement & System Modifications:Recommends design or system modifications and enhancements to systems based on market analysis.Helps review and test proposed changes to wholesale market systems.Proposes and develops new solutions for data acquisition and reporting.Stakeholder & Regulatory Meetings:Attends and participates in stakeholder, industry, and PUCT meetings.Provides input during meetings and assists senior experts in technical discussions. QualificationsRequired: Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent education and experience.Experience:Level 2: Minimum of 1 year of job-related work experience beyond degree requirements.Level 3: Minimum of 3 years of job-related work experience beyond degree requirements.Preferred: Experience with Demand Response and Distributed Energy Resources (DER).Knowledge of electrical distribution systems (25 kV and under).Experience facilitating Protocol and Other Binding Document revisions.Proficient in SQL, Excel, and PowerPoint for data analysis and reporting. Work Location & Schedule Employees are required to be on-site at least 2 days per week in Taylor, TX.Remote work can be performed from your Texas residence.On-site schedules are flexible based on business needs.Employees may opt to work on-site full-time if desired. Additional Responsibilities Develop knowledge of wholesale market operations and procedures.Anticipate and resolve market-related issues using power engineering knowledge.Maintain extensive knowledge of market and grid operations to support stakeholders.Provide recommendations for system enhancements and improvements.Act as a resource for Market Participants on grid operations and market-related questions.
