The Head of CAD will drive continuous improvement by refining CAD department processes and integrating new tools and technologies, while ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations.Job Responsibilities:Design Workflow Oversight and Optimization (40%) Oversee the entire design workflow, from initial project setup through thecompletion of CAD drawings, enduring all design outputs meet project timelinesand quality standards.Distribute CAD work to both internal staff and external subcontracted firms, whilemaintaining oversight of the accuracy, consistency, and adherence to companystandards.Optimize CAD workflow by identifying bottlenecks, implementing processimprovements, and integrating new tools or software solutions to increaseefficiency.Leadership and Team Management (30%) Lead, mentor, and manage a team of CAD professionals, ensuring a high level ofaccountability and performance across the department.Allocate resources effectively to manage project workloads, balancing internal andexternal design demands.Foster a collaborative environment where team members are empowered to solveproblem and contribute to continuous process improvements.Standards Development and Compliance (15%) Establish, document, and maintain SOPs for the CAD department to ensure clarityand consistency in design processesEnsure that all designs comply with the latest local, state, and national buildingcodes, including NEC, and adhere to utility regulations and AHJ requirements.Regularly audit and review designs to ensure quality control, accuracy, andalignment with regulatory standards.Collaborate with Project Teams (15%) Work closely with Project Managers, Permitting, Engineering, and otherstakeholders to ensure that CAD drawings and designs support overall projectsgoals and timelines.b.Provide technical guidance on design and drafting issues, ensuring alignment withengineering and construction requirements.Serve as the primary point of contact for resolving design-related issues andproviding expert-level CAD support to cross-functional teams.Reporting and Performance Metrics (5%) Track and analyze CAD team performance through key metrics such as projecttimelines, quality of deliverables, and adherence to design standards.Update project statuses in CRM (Podio) and provide accurate reporting on designprogress, team performance, and project completion rates.Prepare and present performance reports to senior leadership, identifying areas forimprovement and success in the CAD workflow.Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.Required Experience: 5+ years of experience in CAD management, with a focus on technical design in solar, construction, or related industries3+ years of experience with AutoCAD, including proficiency in producing complex technical drawings.Experience in solar system design and engineering, with a strong understanding of building codes and NEC compliance.Proven track record in leading a CAD team and managing high volumes of design work, ensuring quality and compliance.Technical Skills: Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, Aurora, and Solo.Strong knowledge of NEC and relevant building codes, with the ability to ensurecompliance in all design outputs.Experience in managing design workflows and optimizing processes for efficiencyand quality.Familiarity with CRM systems like Podio for project tracking and reporting.Soft Skills: Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage teams and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.High attention to detail and accountability, with a focus on delivering high-quality results consistently.Measures of Success: On-time CAD Delivery RateCAD Pass Rates3CAD ComplianceWorkflow EfficiencyTeam Satisfaction Score (eNPS)Equal Opportunity Employer that values workplace diversity.
