SALARY: $42,464 - $74,313
The Challenge
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Technician III to join our Reidsville Construction team.
In this role, you will:
Perform inspections on roadway and structure construction, erosion control, and traffic control devices on contract construction projects to ensure compliance with contract plans, specifications, and standard drawings.Verify contractors' work is in accordance with plans, specifications, standard drawings, and special details.Maintain daily diaries, pay record books, and other project documentation in accordance with NCDOT practices, policies, and construction manual.Maintain required NCDOT certifications for asphalt roadway paving, concrete testing, density testing, aggregate and borrow pit sampling, and other certifications.Serve as a Project Inspector.Perform advanced technical and entry-level engineering and administrative duties.Assist our Division during emergencies and bad weather.Apply an extremely wide range of decision-making and use of good engineering and construction judgmentSupervise and provide work direction to others.
What You Bring
Experience analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans.Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.Customer service experience solving problems involving explaining complicated engineering concepts to customer groups.Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.Advanced technical work experience supporting engineers in functional areas, such as highway construction, construction inspection, engineering coordination, and construction traffic control.Safety toe shoes.Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Education and Experience
Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related field, and3+ years of relevant technician experience; orAn equivalent combination of education and experience.
