Summary:The Injection Molding Process Engineer / Operations Lead is responsible for establishing and improving processes, control methods, and department KPI’s including safety, quality, yield, productivity, OTD, etc. Collaborates and Indirect Reporting to IM Dept. Manager for technology, scheduling, investment decisions and quotes. Reports to the VP of Technology for technical support and training with performance measurables based on IM Dept. objectives.  Primary Duties / Responsibilities: to include, but are not limited to thefollowing:Develop and enhance operational control methods and documentation to ensure optimum production quality and efficiency.Review current part processes, end product dimensions, and routings for completeness and opportunities for improvement.Lead department continuous improvement investigations, solutions, and implementations, including automation opportunities, secondary ops reduction, optimized cycle time, and scrap reduction.  Develop processes and procedures for new injection molded parts.Hands on production set-up and start-up participation as required, including training and coaching within the department.Assist in the specification, set-up, operation, maintenance, and repair of IM equipment.     Track & report department KPI’s, ensuring accuracy and integrity of data.Collaborate on new mold design and quotes (these functions led by department Manager). Required Skills / Experience / Education: B.S. Degree with 5+ years’ experience molding advanced, high-performance polymers.Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and problem solver.Direct knowledge and application of scientific molding principles with a proven track record of success.Motivated self-starter with the ability to muti-task in a fast-paced production environment.Hands on technical operational experience with the communication skills to teach and lead team members and collaborate with technologist, management, and customers.  Work Environment / Schedule: (as applicable)Working with various sizes and shapes of tooling daily, up to 50 pounds. Will require standing and lifting/moving objects throughout the day. Regular use of a computer terminal is also required. Appropriate use of PPE required for the task being done. Standard hours are Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. with some operational assignments to work 2nd or 3rd shift to support production or special project requirements.   Drake Plastics is a drug-free workplace.
