About Atomic13 (A13) is commercializing a disruptive metal forming process which converts 100% post-consumer scrap into high performance aluminum extrusions with broad applicability across the building and construction industry. The ability to refine the impurities incorporated within scrap aluminum unlocks the possibility of reducing the carbon footprint of aluminum extrusions by at least 85%. A13 has a partnership with one of the largest scrap processing and recycling companies in the U.S. that is a major investor and supplier of scrap aluminum.  About the Opportunity We are seeking a skilled and motivated project engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of Atomic13’s R&D testing. The candidate should be highly skilled and passionate about sustainability, material processing, material testing & characterization, and the aluminum extrusion industry. Candidates with product testing and validation experience within the electronics- building & construction, or automotive industry are highly relevant and will be favorably considered but not mandatory. The project engineer will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our company's growth trajectory and contribute to our mission of establishing circularity in the aluminum products business and significantly reducing embodied carbon.Responsibilities Testing Coordinate project trials with external contractors and labsCoordinate material testing analysis with external contractors and labsWrite test specifications for external labs to follow and validation of external labsWork with other Atomic13 engineers in conducting extrusion trials with Atomic13 scrap-based alloysWork with other Atomic13 engineers in coordinating mechanical & corrosion testing with Atomic13 scrap-based alloysCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alloy compositions align with design and manufacturing specifications. Documentation and Reporting Develop a system for filing and documentation of all test data, external and internalMaintain the Atomic13 technical databasePrepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders.Generate technical reports and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Qualifications: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in project engineering, product validation, or product testing with aluminum intensive products (e.g. electronics, building & construction, or automotive industry)Experience in material testing and ASTM testing standardsExperience in production trials and process instrumentationAttention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and communicate complex technical information clearly.
