We are the highest rated state agency for employee satisfaction on Glassdoor with 300+ reviews.   SALARY: 36,682 - $64,194   The Challenge We are looking for an experienced Transportation Worker IV to join our Rockingham County Bridge Maintenance team.   In this role, you will: Perform manual and equipment operational work in the maintenance and replacement of bridges, pipes, and reinforced concrete box culverts.Use your skills in carpentry, concrete work, machine operation, contract inspection, repair of bridges/culverts/large pipe & headwalls, sandblasting and painting, demolition work, trenching and shoring.Perform lead paint removal and steel fabrication.     What You Bring Skills to use tools associated with Bridge maintenance and construction activities.Strength to exert 100+ pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and 10+ pounds of force constantly to move objects.Fitness and ability to work while suspended at moderate heights, confined areas, over water, in water, in extreme heat and cold, and during inclement weather.Advanced Work Zone Safety experience and understanding of NCDOT Workplace Safety Policy and Practices.Demonstrated ability to supervise and train others in equipment operations.Working experience as the Lead Worker on a Bridge or Maintenance Crew without supervision.Experience reading and interpreting plans, calculating quantities, and placing orders, plan reading and layout, directing drilling and cutting of holes, or directing erection of steel beams and bridge components.Working experience as a lead in trenching and shoring operations.A commitment to a safe work environment.  Safety toe shoes.Commercial Driver's License and ability to safely operate equipment and trucks with manual and automatic transmissions.
