We are the highest rated state agency for employee satisfaction on Glassdoor with 300 reviews.   SALARY: $33,272 - $58,226   The Challenge We are looking for a mechanic to join our Maintenance Operations & Fleet Management team.   In this role, you will: Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and rebuildings of gas/diesel-powered, light to heavy equipment in the DOT fleet.Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles/equipment.Repair, rebuild, and maintain light or heavy equipment.Prepare new equipment for use across our 14 highway divisions.Communicate with customers to ensure accurate description of complaints.Deal with suppliers to purchase the correct materials.   What You Bring Knowledge of automotive or heavy equipment repair and the techniques/methods used determine and solve mechanical problems.Knowledge and demonstrated usage of diagnostic tools.Experience performing preventive maintenance 1+ of the following: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, and heavy construction equipment.Ability to read, understand, and explain technical and instructional manuals.Ability to use and operate machines and instruments commonly found in an automotive/heavy equipment repair shop.Some skills performing moderately-complex automotive equipment repairs and maintenance, or the ability to learn on the job.Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.Strength to work at heavy manual labor for extended time.A Commercial Driver’s License.
