We are the highest rated state agency for employee satisfaction on Glassdoor with 300+ reviews.   SALARY: $42,464 - $74,313   The Challenge We are looking for an experienced Materials Technician to join our Division 1 Materials & Tests team.   In this role, you will: Sample, test, and inspect materials on highway construction projects across Division 1 to ensure they meet standards and specifications.Perform assessments of producer/contractor technicians to ensure that they are performing quality control and acceptance testing according to standards and specifications.Provide instruction in NCDOT certification programs.     What You Bring Demonstrated ability to assess technicians' testing proficiency to ensure compliance with established testing methods.Experience evaluating and reviewing inspectors’ reports related to compliance with specifications.Experience working in close quarters with restricted movement, climbing bridge substructures, working over water, or over and around high volumes of traffic.Computer and software experience.  Ability to safely navigate hazardous work situations at highway construction projects and material/product stockpiles while following established in-house safety procedures.   Education and Experience Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related field, and3+ years of relevant technician experience; orAn equivalent combination of education and experience.   Management Prefers Candidates with: Knowledge, experience, and certification in sampling and testing of asphalt, aggregate, concrete, and soils materials used in highway construction.Knowledge and experience with HiCAMS database.   Questions?
