For more explanation of the district benefits please visit our benefits website www.mychelanpudbenefits.orgJOB POSTINGManager - System Operations & CoordinationOverviewThis position is responsible for the operation of the bulk electric system in accordance with all applicable reliability standards such as those established by NERC and WECC. The Manager of System Operations and Coordination is responsible for the assignment, coordination and supervision of work performed by employees engaged in the 24-hour operation and dispatch of the District's diverse utility systems. The incumbent is responsible for making informed and timely decisions across a broad range of fields, including the District's electrical generation, transmission and distribution systems. Oversee and coordinate river operations with generation and energy planning. Manage the coordination of outages at generation, transmission, and distribution facilities to optimize the balance of costs and revenue while maintaining system reliability and NERC compliance. Act as duty supervisor and handle after hours emergencies as required.ResponsibilitiesEnsures the District’s Bulk Electric System is operated in a safe, reliable manner, in full compliance with applicable reliability standards.Supervise system operations including performance management, employee development, hiring, discipline, training, etc.Maintain current knowledge of the electric power industry and changing technology, attending NERC/WECC training classes and maintaining all appropriate certifications. Identify appropriate training courses designed to fulfill employee regulatory compliance requirements and ensure employees remain current with appropriate certifications and training. Remain current on District policies and implement appropriate changes as necessary.Provide production information and outage scheduling support in collaboration with management, power marketing and system operations to ensure that the most efficient unit outage times are established. This position ensures attention to cost analysis, maintenance recommendations, resources availability and operation needs have all been considered in the decision making process.Prioritize, plan and/or lead various system operation office work and improvement projects. Contribute to companywide projects and/or initiatives.Serve as System Operations liaison with other operational departments over a wide range of policy and operational issues.Serve as District’s liaison with other utilities across the Western Interconnection over a wide range of policy and operational issues, e.g. NWPP RSG & OC, WFRSG, and RC West.Direct the coordination and planning for all outages on the District’s generation, transmission, distribution and communication systems.Plan, schedule, and budget for system operations activities to ensure efficient and cost effective District system operations on a 24-hour basis.Maintain regular and predictable attendance: Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
